Mandera East Member of Parliament Hussein Weytan on Monday flagged off the distribution of 1,050 lockers and chairs to secondary schools across Mandera East Constituency in an effort aimed at improving classroom conditions for students.
The initiative is intended to enhance learning environments by addressing shortages of basic classroom furniture in public schools. The MP said the programme forms part of broader efforts to strengthen education infrastructure in the constituency.
“Today, I had the honor of flagging off the distribution of 1,050 lockers and chairs to secondary schools across Mandera East Constituency,” Weytan said in the statement.
He added that the initiative is aimed at improving dignity and comfort for students in the classroom.
“This initiative reflects our unwavering commitment to improving learning environments and ensuring that our students have the necessary resources to pursue their education with dignity and comfort,” he said.
Weytan said the provision of classroom furniture is part of ongoing efforts by his office to support education as a key development priority. He noted that investments in learning facilities are essential to strengthening institutions and improving outcomes for students.
“By providing essential classroom furniture, we are creating a more conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning, benefiting hundreds of students across our schools,” he said.
He further emphasized that education remains central to his development agenda, pledging continued investment in programmes targeting schools and learners in the constituency.
“Education remains one of the key pillars of our development agenda, and we will continue investing in programs and projects that empower our learners and strengthen our institutions,” he said.
The rollout of learning materials is expected to ease pressure on existing classroom resources and improve the learning experience for students in affected schools, particularly in underserved areas of Mandera East.
