At least 36 passengers escaped unhurt after a plane skidded off the runway into nearby thickets while landing at Mandera Airstrip in northeastern Kenya, authorities said.
The aircraft developed a technical problem upon touchdown, causing it to veer off the runway, according to initial reports. All passengers and crew on board were safely evacuated, with no injuries reported.
Emergency response teams were deployed to the scene shortly after the incident to secure the area and assist those on board.
The aircraft sustained damage, although the extent of the damage was not immediately clear. Authorities said investigations had been launched to establish the cause of the incident. Air transport operations at the airstrip were temporarily disrupted following the incident.
