Police in Wajir have opened investigations into a fatal altercation that left one man dead following a dispute involving two men in God-Ade neighborhood on Tuesday evening.

The deceased, identified as Noor Salat Khalid, reportedly sustained fatal stab wounds after a violent confrontation allegedly involving a relative over an undisclosed domestic issue.

According to witnesses, the disagreement quickly escalated into a physical fight, resulting in serious injuries to Khalid.

Residents who rushed to the scene said the victim was bleeding profusely when neighbors attempted to offer first aid before transporting him to the Wajir County Referral Hospital.

Khalid, however, succumbed to his injuries on the way and was later taken to the hospital morgue.

Wajir County Police Commander John Gachochi said the suspect is currently receiving medical treatment at the same hospital before arraignment in court.

“The accused person is at Wajir County Referral Hospital for treatment, after which he will be arraigned in court,” said Mr Gachochi.

Authorities have launched a formal inquiry to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident that has left the God-Ade community in shock.

Meanwhile, family members of the deceased are making funeral arrangements as police continue their investigations.
