You won’t believe that this little pleasant garden is in Wajir, a town known for a parched and bare vegetation cover. The unique point is full of  ostentatious trees that glow like glacier. It is an ornate in its architecture and splendid, at least to the standards of Wajir.

Sandwiched between executive rooms and spacious conference halls, the lush green garden sits next to the only swimming pool in Wajir which eddies a mist of fine droplets onto the nearby foliage.

“This was perfectly designed by Turkish contractors” says Elly Lucas a staff at Alma Heritage Resort, a quintessential holiday home at the heart of Wajir town and one of the few hotels of its kind in this part of the world.

Under the sunrise, the garden glow with saplings spread out.  It is a place of enchanting shades and of a beauty that bounded from a rare spot in the desert of Wajir. Every plant stays in a spick-and-span row wafting gently.

“This is a unique garden with unique trees such as coconut, tamarind and palm” says Lucas with a lot of passion “With a swimming pool near it, it is a cool place to enjoy here in Wajir”

Can we say a little paradise on earth, this amazing spot is a delightful abode quiet and cool for extinguishing the fevers of boredom and delusion especially for people in Wajir, who may have fewer options.

At Alma Heritage Resort, the garden is the apple of their eye, managed with a ruling passion every single day. It is just what a makes a lot of difference from other similar ventures in Wajir. They put a lot of efforts into it.

“I really like the garden at Alma Heritage Resort. It is a kind of unique in this part of the world” says Mohamed Abdi, a local resident “Sometimes we need places to cool ourselves and take us away from the dullness especially in this small town “

The Garden has been an attraction point for newlyweds seeking to have a scenic yet photographic memory of their best moments in life, while the swimming pool has been a stomping ground for kids in Wajir especially during Eid celebrations.

Nowadays, you can attend swimming lessons available for both adult and children at an affordable rate. A thing too new for residents in landlocked Wajir.  Thanks to the team at Alma.

But Alma is not all about the garden and the swimming pool, it is a full house, home away home. Offering a host of unique hospitality services where one can live in the lap of luxury. With its ample and great ambience, it’s near perfect tick as a place.

Last year, during the launch of the pastoralist leadership summit in Wajir town, the resort hosted high profile guests including the Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula.

Since its inception in 2023, Alma has been part of a host of entities redefining the growing hospitality industry in Wajir, positioning itself for an expansion that seeks to quench the thirst for luxury staycations.

With executives suits for those seeking high-end accommodation and standard rooms for all, the establishment offers an amalgamation of hospitality amenities that caters for diverse clients.

“We offer a good service at Alma and let me say one of the best in town. We have VIP and executive rooms” says Lucas

It also offers high end conference facilities boasting modern technology and facilities. For a growing town like Wajir, these kind of facilities offer a wide selection for government and non-government entities to host forums like workshops and training.

More importantly, at Alma you can enjoy a variety of cuisine that combine traditional, national and international menu. It’s locally known as the best joint for Swahili Shawarma and Somali’s tender meat Deylo.
