Wajir Women Representative Fatuma Abdi Jehow intensified her early re-election campaign on Saturday with a visit to Habaswein town in Wajir South Constituency, where she outlined her development agenda and sought to consolidate grassroots support ahead of the 2027 polls.

Addressing residents, Jehow framed her visit as part of an ongoing countywide outreach focused on service delivery and social support programmes.

“Habaswein and the greater Wajir South hold a deeply personal place in my heart,” she said. “Today, I felt a powerful connection; an outpouring of warmth and trust that echoes the legacy of my late father, Mzee Jehow, whose commitment to public service continues to inspire my path.”

The MP lauded the hospitality accorded to her during the political tour while expressing her  commitment to servant leadership throughout the vast county.

“The same faith the people placed in him, they have graciously extended to me and my team as I continued my development and service delivery tour across Wajir County standing with our beloved communities, listening deeply, and acting with purpose,” she added.

Jehow highlighted key interventions under her office, including drought mitigation, women’s empowerment initiatives and support for vulnerable groups through the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF).

“From advancing drought mitigation efforts, to strengthening women’s empowerment, to reaching persons living with disabilities through the distribution of essential food supplies under the NGAAF program, this journey is about reaching everyone and expanding opportunity,” she said. “It is about ensuring that no one is left behind.”

She also announced financial support for education in the area, saying: “I was especially humbled to present a cheque of one million Kenya shillings to support our children’s education because every child deserves the chance to learn, to dream, and to rise, regardless of circumstance.”

Jehow thanked residents for their reception and reaffirmed her political commitment to the constituency.

“To the people of Habaswein: you have been extraordinary. Thank you for your unwavering support,” she said.

The visit is part of a broader political mobilisation effort in Wajir County as leaders begin positioning themselves ahead of the next general election.
