Lawyer Hashim Elmoge has declared his interest in vying for the Wajir South parliamentary seat in the 2027 general election, adding to a growing field of aspirants in what is shaping up to be one of the county’s most competitive political contests.
Elmoge, known in Wajir County for his legal advocacy and engagement in governance and public service initiatives, is positioning himself as part of a new wave of leadership seeking to unseat incumbent MP Mohamed Adow.
The Wajir South seat has begun attracting several high-profile figures from across the constituency as early political mobilisation gathers pace.
Elmoge’s entry is expected to intensify competition, with his profile in human rights advocacy, governance and public discourse seen by residents as a factor that could reshape voter dynamics in the vast and politically active constituency.
With a background spanning community service and legal practice, he is presenting himself as an alternative voice focused on transparency and accountability in leadership.
His announcement comes amid increasing political activity in Wajir South, where residents are closely monitoring emerging candidates and their agendas as campaigns gradually take shape.
“It is decision time and a decision has been made that is meant to better the political representation of our people,” Elmoge said. “I seek your support in this endeavor. May Allah guide the decision and realize its goal. Amen.”
