Wajir North MP Ibrahim Saney has praised the impact of the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) at the grassroots level, highlighting its significance to the electorate.
Speaking during the opening ceremony of new housing units for Danaba Police Post in his constituency, the vocal MP said the results of the CDF are felt directly by the people on the ground.
“It is only through CDF that the impact of the national government is felt at the grassroots. “It’s CDF that built houses for the police. Today, officers at Danaba Police have houses and they can live in a dignified way doing their work of maintaining law and order.” The MP said
The legislator, who also inaugurated a new administration block for Danaba Girls Secondary School, spoke passionately about the progress the fund has achieved in building public infrastructure, including classrooms for schools, especially in marginalised areas.
“It is only through CDF that we have put up a fully-fledged girls’ school and many other amenities. That is CDF,” the MP expressed.
He thanked the public for their support during recent public participation forums regarding the future of the fund and assured residents of his continued backing ahead of a crucial parliamentary vote.
“Mine is to thank you for the last public participation. We are looking forward to a serious voting that requires a two-thirds majority in Parliament. I am going to vote to make sure that my vote counts for CDF.”
Lawmakers are now working to rally the required 233 members for Tuesday’s vote on the Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill, 2025. The bill includes provisions for the NG-CDF, the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF), and the Senate Oversight Fund.
Parliament Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has cautioned MPs against travelling outside the country, terming the highly anticipated vote a matter of national urgency.
