Wajir High School, the oldest secondary school in Northeastern Kenya, is preparing to mark its 60th anniversary with a grand celebration scheduled for Saturday, 12th July 2025.
The diamond jubilee event will celebrate six decades of academic excellence, institutional transformation, and community impact.
The celebration, organised by the Wajir High School Alumni Association (WHSAA), will be held at the school grounds and is expected to draw a large crowd of alumni, students, parents, educators, and regional leaders.
Cabinet Secretary for Health Hon. Aden Duale is expected to grace the occasion as the chief guest, alongside other dignitaries and invited guests.
Preparations are in top gear, with the alumni leadership holding their final physical planning meeting on 29th June to finalise arrangements for the milestone event.
“This celebration is not just about looking back,” said Abdi Billow, a representative of WHSAA. “It is about telling our story, honouring our journey, and inspiring the future.”
Founded in 1965, Wajir High School has played a critical role in shaping the academic and leadership landscape of Northeastern Kenya.
Thousands of students have passed through its classrooms, many of whom now serve in prominent positions both locally and internationally.
The diamond jubilee will showcase the school’s rich history, remarkable achievements, and the challenges it has overcome.
It will also serve as a platform to renew the school community’s commitment to educational excellence, character development, and public service.
WHSAA has called on all former students and stakeholders to join in the celebrations and reaffirm their support for the institution that has stood as a beacon of knowledge and opportunity in the region for six decades.
