Wajir Governor leads peace efforts in Arbajahan

Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi led peace mission in Arabajahan on Wednesday

A delegation of political leaders, elders, professionals, and security officials on Wednesday converged in Arbajahan, Wajir West Constituency, in a coordinated peace mission aimed at de-escalating tensions following recent clashes involving brotherly sub-clans.

The delegation, led by Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi, included Wajir West MP Hon. Yussuf Mohamed Farah, former Wajir West MP Hon. Abdikadir Ore, former Nairobi County Executive Hon. Mohamud Dakane. Also present were Arbajahan MCA Hon. Abey Jimale, Wagalla/Ganyure MCA Hon. Ibrahim Hussein, Hadado MCA Hon. Bash Mumin, and nominated MCAs Hon. Nimo Ahmed and Hon. Faiza Ahmed.

The leaders were joined by respected elders, prominent business figures, professionals, and members of the County Security Committee.

Addressing residents and stakeholders, Governor Abdullahi emphasised the county government’s unwavering commitment to fostering peace and coexistence. He praised the swift community-led response that laid the groundwork for formal mediation, calling on all parties to prioritise dialogue and reconciliation over confrontation.

Following consultations and dialogue representatives from both conflicting sides agreed to an immediate end to hostilities. They also committed to continued reconciliation efforts under the guidance of elders and local peace committees.
