Training underway for teachers ahead of CBE implementation

The Ministry of Education has begun retooling teachers in preparation for the transition to a more practical Competency-Based Education (CBE) model.

Speaking at the Pioneer Group of Schools’ prize-giving ceremony in Maragua, Nelson Sifuna, Head of Directorate for Field Coordination and Co-Curricular Services, said preparations are underway, including a school heads’ conference scheduled for Monday in Mombasa.

He emphasised the ministry’s commitment to partnering with private institutions to enhance education delivery through CBE.

“The curriculum-based education will allow our children to develop their talents and I want to also commend the pioneers of private institutions for their contribution and dedication in making the CBE a reality in schools,” Sifuna said.

He further praised the government’s collaboration with private schools to ensure access to quality education, highlighting Pioneer’s success in producing over 300 commercial pilots—a milestone acknowledged by PS for Basic Education, Prof Julius K. Bitok, as exceptional.
