Wajir politics is heating up  and the comeback everyone’s been whispering about is now official! Former Wajir Governor Amb. Mohamed Abdi Mohamud, fondly known as Shuluq, has dramatically thrown his hat back into the ring for the 2027 gubernatorial race.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, the former county boss made it clear that he’s ready to reclaim the throne he lost amid one of the most chaotic political tenures in Wajir’s history.

“Insha’Allah, I will be contesting for the Wajir Gubernatorial seat in the 2027 General Elections,” Shuluq declared confidently, putting an end to days of speculation that he was eyeing the Senate instead.

The announcement sent shockwaves across the county, reviving old rivalries and sparking a storm of political chatter online. The big question now is can Shuluq make a comeback after years of political storms and bitter battles?

During his 2017–2022 reign, Shuluq’s administration was anything but quiet. His term was rocked by court cases, political feuds, and power struggles that kept Wajir’s politics in constant turmoil. Yet, his supporters insist he was a man misunderstood, a visionary whose plans for development were constantly sabotaged by rivals bent on bringing him down.

And now, he’s back with a promise  to serve the great people of Wajir through visionary leadership, unity, and sustainable development.

Political analysts say his return could upend the current power dynamics and set the stage for one of the most explosive and unpredictable races in Wajir’s history. Already, rival camps are scrambling to read the signs, with whispers of new alliances and old grudges reigniting.

For the people of Wajir, the re-emergence of Shuluq brings both nostalgia and curiosity. Some remember his bold speeches and grand projects that never quite took off,  others recall the endless drama that turned Wajir into a national headline.

But one thing is clear,  Shuluq is back, louder and more determined than ever. As 2027 draws near, the political heat in Wajir just got turned up to the maximum.
