The Wajir Huduma Centre Manager, Hussein Abdirahman, who had been missing for several months, was on Thursday morning found alive at the Dhobley in Somalia.

Family members confirmed that Hussein, popularly known as Hussein Moi, was discovered in an extremely weakened and traumatised state. Photos shared with relatives showed him visibly emaciated, raising concerns about his health and the conditions he may have endured.

According to a family member, arrangements are underway to coordinate his transfer back to Kenya.

“He has been found in Dhobley, but he is in very bad shape and status. From the photos, he looks weak and emaciated. We are coordinating with Somali and Kenyan authorities to transfer him to Wajir as soon as possible,” the relative said.

Hussein was last seen on the morning of Tuesday, 8 July 2025, at around 10 a.m. within Wajir town. His disappearance sparked widespread concern, triggering protests and sustained pressure from leaders and residents who accused authorities of failing to provide clear information about his whereabouts.

For months, the case dominated public discourse in Wajir County, with community members demanding transparency and accountability from security agencies. Leaders from across the region condemned the incident and urged the government to intensify efforts to locate him.

News of his discovery has brought relief to his family and the wider Wajir community, though concerns remain regarding his health and the circumstances that led to his disappearance.
