Deputy Inspector General of Police Eluid Lagat has lauded Wajir County as “one of the safest counties in the country,” highlighting the significant contributions of security agencies and local leadership in maintaining peace and stability.
During a security assessment visit, DIG Lagat stated, “We are here since yesterday to assess the security situation. I want to report and say that we are happy with the security arrangements in Wajir.”
He emphasised Wajir’s strong security standing, adding, “Wajir is one of the safest counties in the country and by extension, Wajir town is one of the safest towns.” He attributed this success to the collective efforts of the security teams, noting, “These teams have played a very crucial role to bring stability and security in Wajir.”
DIG Lagat also expressed appreciation for the local community’s support, saying, “I want to specifically thank the people of the county of Wajir for the continuous support they have given to security agencies. They have provided important intelligence and information that has supported the infrastructure of the security of this place.”
He further acknowledged the critical role played by county leaders and community groups, stating, “I equally want to thank the political class and the leadership of the county for the support they have given to security agencies. It is because of that cooperation and this includes elders and the peace committees that have played a major role. This is a classic example of how things are supposed to be done.”
Concluding his visit, DIG Lagat assured ongoing collaboration, saying, “I want the leadership to know that we value them and we continue to partner with them to make sure that the social and economic activities in Wajir are improved further.”
DIG Lagat was accompanied on the visit by Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service, Gilbert Masengeli.
